Synopsis for "Birth of the Beast!"
This issue is based around the origin of Beast. It starts with Beast's parents, Norton and Edna(formerly Edna Andrews) McCoy, getting married. Norton McCoy has a new home and a new job at a nuclear power plant. Sometime later one of the reactors goes wild and Norton saves the day, but not after getting dosed with tons of radiation.
Soon enough, Edna is pregnant with Hank, who is born with large feet and hands(a rare thing for mutants to be born with their powers). He grows up and joins the high school football team, pretty much on accident. Hank is the star of the team.
During one of the games a gang of robbers tries to steal the ticket money from the booth in the stadium. The police flee after them and into the stadium. When they hit the field Hank saves the day and knocks the robbers out.
While this is going on, the villain this issue, The Conquistador, has been watching Hank on the television. He seeks him out while Hank is coming home from the game. He tests him by having his men drive a truck at him. His men then try to trap Hank under a net, but Hank manages to get out of it only to face The Conquistador. The Conquistador zaps him from his sword.
Meanwhile, back at the McCoy household, the X-Men are searching for Hank, but to no avail. Professor X uses the first version of Cerebro to locate him.
Tied up and in the hands of The Conquistador, Hank is being asked to join as his henchmen. If he says no, The Conquistador will kill Hank's parents. Hank says yes and is told to break into a military installation to steal a new experimental nuclear reactor. He gets the reactor and returns it to The Conquistador who won't return Hank's parents until he is done with him. Hank attacks him and in the middle of battle the X-Men show up. They handle the henchmen and The Conquistador gets back to his device, but Professor X has had the circuits scrambled and the place explodes.
Back at the McCoy household, Professor X asks Hank and his parents if he could join Xavier's school. And he did. Beast then bids the readers a fare well as something else replaces his stint in Amazing Adventures.
